Facebook changes promotion guidelines

If you have a Facebook Page, here is some good news for you. On Tuesday, Facebook announced that it had updated its Pages Terms to make things easier for managers and administrators interested in organizing promotions on the social network.

When running contests, businesses do not have to just rely on third-party apps for their contests anymore. They can choose to administer the promotions directly on their Timelines.

For example, businesses can now:

Collect entries by having users post on the Page or comment/like a Page postCollect entries by having users message the PageUtilize likes as a voting mechanism

Note that the requirement according to which brands cannot manage promotions on personal Timelines still stands. Also, tabs can still be used as long as those promotions follow the guidelines set up by the social network. Finally, Pages must not tag fans or encourage them to tag themselves in content in which they are not actually depicted.

Earlier this week, Facebook also introduced shared photo albums. The new feature, which is being tested with a small group of users, would allow people to upload up to 200 photos to each album. The number of contributors is limited to 50.
