Injured Rams cleared for S.F. game

Running back Zac Stacy, one of three Rams players who left Sunday's 42-21 win over the Chicago Bears with concussion-like symptoms, has been cleared to play at San Francisco on Sunday.

Cornerback Trumaine Johnson and left guard Chris Williams also were sidelined with blows to the head, but will be available against the 49ers.

All three returned to practice in a limited role Thursday, then were full participants Friday at Rams Park.

None of the three Rams who left against Chicago made it back into the game. Williams left in the second quarter. Stacy and Johnson both were hurt in the third period.

All three have been cleared to play against San Francisco (7-4).

Steeler fined: Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback William Gay has been fined $15,750 by the NFL for his hit Sunday that gave Browns quarterback Jason Campbell a concussion.

Gay was fined for unnecessary roughness because he unnecessarily delivered a forcible blow to the head and neck area of Campbell.

Campbell sustained a concussion in the third quarter after he was knocked down by Gay, who struck the quarterback with a glancing blow to the face mask. Campbell crumpled to the turf and banged his head on the hard ground.

Gay was not penalized; in fact, he caused a fumble that was returned 49 yards, setting up a touchdown that gave Pittsburgh a 20-3 lead.

Meanwhile, Miami defensive end Cameron Wake drew the same fine amount Friday for roughing the passer when he hit Carolina's Cam Newton in the head and neck area.

Also fined was Saints defensive end Cam Jordan, docked $10,000 for a hit on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

More fines: Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was fined $7,875 for motioning a throat slash in a game with Tampa Bay.

Jets defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis was fined $7,875 for unnecessary roughness when he grabbed Baltimore QB Joe Flacco's face mask.

Bears guard Kyle Long was docked the same amount for unnecessarily striking a Rams opponent during a skirmish involving several players.

Peterson will play - probably: Adrian Peterson returned to Minnesota Vikings' practice and is probable for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

Peterson, second in the league with 997 yards rushing, has been limited for three weeks with a groin injury and was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday. But the reigning MVP will be "ready to roll" when Minnesota hosts Chicago and its 32nd-ranked run defense Sunday.

Rookie cornerback Xavier Rhodes and receiver Joe Webb passed their concussion tests and fully practiced Friday and are listed as probable. The Vikings will be without tight end Kyle Rudolph (broken foot) and cornerback Josh Robinson (fractured sternum) on Sunday.

"We're pretty good health-wise," coach Leslie Frazier said. "All of those guys that we were counting on at this point are looking pretty good. We're not back to full strength, but we do have a lot of guys that are going to participate who we need to be on the field against a good football team on Sunday afternoon."
