Klout redesigns its profiles

Social influence measurement service Klout introduced the next iteration of user profiles on Friday.

The new layout, which looks like a mixture of Twitter and Pinterest, has been designed to give others a better idea of what influencers do online. The top part features their name, avatar, and bio, and is followed by four modules: most active social networks, topics, top influencers, and top Moments.

"When viewing your friends’ profiles, you’ll have an opportunity to give them +K in the topics you think they’re influential about," says Sahana Ullagaddi on The Official Klout Blog. "The new modular, tiled layout of the profile will allow us to add more interesting data points about your influence down the line, so stay tuned."

The announcement comes with two more updates. Each user of the platform now has a dedicated Perks Page. There, they can click on the Perk of their choice to access its Showcase page. This area highlights influencer activity around the product, including ratings, reviews and conversations on social networks.

This week also saw the release of Klout's new mobile app for iOS. Cinch is a Q&A service that provides users with personalized advice on lifestyle-related questions from relevant experts. It is only available in the US App Store.

Advertising is coming to Pinterest. The team is partnering with a select group of businesses to show promoted pins in the search and category feeds of the platform – as a starter. This feature being a test, participants do not have to pay right now.

Pinterest CEO and Co-Founder, Ben Silbermann promises that the items will be as relevant as possible. He also insists that users will "know if someone paid for what [they] see, or where [they] see it," while encouraging feedback to improve the experiment.
