A few months ago, I was looking for a productivity tool that would help me save time and increase efficiency. An online friend told me about IFTTT (If This Then That). At first, I was skeptical because she had mentioned the word “automation”. However, she was so enthusiastic about it that I decided to do some research and see how people used it.
I discovered that IFTTT does not just allow you to update your social media profiles automatically. You can also use it to save your Instagram photos into Dropbox, or turn your Inbox into a social media monitoring dashboard, for example.
I signed up for an account the day when The New York Times launched its IFTTT channels, and haven’t looked back since.
While IFTTT is not difficult to figure out, it may be a little overwhelming when you are just getting started.
To help you with that, check out Albert Martinez’s excellent guide. He goes through the basics and shares a great list of examples that will help fuel your creativity. Read it at http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/the-ultimate-ifttt-guide-use-the-webs-most-powerful-tool-like-a-pro.
