Facebook rolls out embedded posts and new platform for smaller game developers

Is Facebook trying to become more user-friendly? The company introduced on Wednesday a new social plugin that allows people to embed public posts on blogs and website.

Currently limited to specific news publishers (Pages and users), Embedded Posts display in the same way as they do on the social network. Viewers can like and share the content on their Timeline without leaving the website. They can also subscribe to the Page or author directly from there. And if they want to see interactions or interact directly with the post, a link will take them to the original content on Facebook.

To embed a post, click the down arrow at the top right and select “Embed Post” in the drop-down menu. Then, copy and paste the code provided in the dialog box on your page.

Note that authors and Pages will not get notifications when their posts have been embedded on websites.

Earlier this week, Facebook also announced the launch of Facebook Mobile Games Publishing, its new platform for small and medium-sized game developers. The company will promote the games of a select number of developers across its mobile apps.

With more than 800 million monthly users of our mobile apps and more than 260 million people playing games on Facebook, we are using our unique reach and targeting capabilities to help games in our program find and engage a valuable audience of the right users. […] We are invested in the success of these games, and in exchange for a revenue share, we will be collaborating deeply with developers in our program by helping them attract high-quality, long-term players for their games. We'll also be sharing analytics tools and the expertise we've gained from helping games grow on our platform for more than six years.
